Guest article by Ink and Media
Instead of throwing away used ink cartridges have you ever wondered what else you could do with them? Wickford based ink cartridges retailer Ink and Media Ltd with the help of Midlands based artist Faith Pearson have fused a love of sci-fi and film with ink cartridges. The result is a series of recycled art pieces that recreate a range of cinematic moments - including King Kong, Godzilla and even a model of the Star Trek enterprise. The scenes were all created by hand and a series of background installations were designed before the final pieces were complete.

Last week Hera & I went to see Amococo, a luminarium by UK’s Architects of Air on here during the Adelaide Fringe Festival. Was really beautiful walking barefoot through the inflated labyrinth of colourful tunnels, we caught it at the best time of day when the sun was overhead. Hera thought she’d gone to heaven and didn’t want to leave the “tent,” despite the fact it was around 30 degrees that day and very hot inside the tunnels! We cooled off by putting our faces in the air conditioning fans throughout, and enjoyed getting lost doing several laps of the structure.

Hee hee, wooo, the Truly chip bag I illustrated is kinda famous! My colleague Kimberly McKay-Flemming sent me a link to watch the Rick Mercer Report where Rick and researchers from York University visit the Canadian Space Agency and goof around in zero gravity. After cracking open a bag, the fun began as Mercer offers his colleague a chip… which are floating around the cabin along with globs of a pink drink!

I actually had time last night to just doodle a little fan art in front of the tv (being nine months pregnant has its perks!) Thought I’d share with the world that I just love Michael Cera… fell in love with him when he played awkward teenager George Michael Bluth in Arrested Development (best… show… ever…) and have enjoyed following his acting career since. From the web series Clark & Michael to the lovable flick Juno, the Canadian actor brings an adorable man-child sincerity to his characters.

Illustrator Michael Flemming is posting a Star Wars ABC photoset on Flickr which is well worth keeping tabs on if you’re a Star Wars geek like me! The digital illustrations are a lot of fun, and feature the lesser known characters characters in all their obscure glory.

This is my contribution to the oodles of Star Wars & Kiss memorobilia out there… my take on the Cantina band covering Kiss. If my design tickles the fancy of the Kiss / Star Wars fan in you, please vote for it through the Threadless site! I just love Threadless.
