One of the best things about summer for babies is you can dress them in just a top with their diapers… this green top was one of my favourites to do that with as it looked adorable with her fuzzy yellow diaper and yellow button clip. After an overwhelmingly successfull Earth Hour ‘08, it’s exciting to think of what could be in store for Earth Hour ‘09, to be held on March 28th at 8pm everywhere! 58% of adults in Australia’s capital cities participating in Earth Hour this was quite impressive, with many coming up with fun ideas for how to spend Earth Hour with their families. I think my favourite idea was two young boys who formed “Earth Hour Police” and went door-to-door asking their neighbours to shut off their lights. I wonder if they wore special badges :) Maybe next year I’ll do some Art In The Dark!

This is one of two dresses I picked up second hand with very dated patterns which I had fun transforming them into baby-couture by adding buttons, ribbon, and some felt crows to give them a shabby chic look! This is some inspiration, and the sketch I did before delving into altering the real thing… which looked cool, but Hera only wore once as I realized white glue is not washing machine friendly ;) Now it’s part of my illustrated diary of Hera’s outfits. Happy Friday the 13th! Ah, it’s so much fun being a parent, especially when you can dress your baby up in incredibly nerdy stuff and they can’t protest! This addition to my illustrated diary of Hera’s outfits is an oldie but goodie home baby trekkie onesie Hera wore at a dress up party this past Halloween. The insignia badge design I found online, then I recreated them in Illustrator (adjusted the colours so they’d look a bit less cartoony), printed ‘em out, glued them to illustration board, cut ‘em out with an exacto knife, then attached pins to the back. I think they’ll make a reappearance sometime!
