hippo baby chew toy ikea illustration

I’ve been having fun the last few days with my new project… an illustrated diary of my baby’s girl’s clothes & toys. Ooober girlie, I know, I know. But the mommy illustrator in me thought it would be kind of cool to illustrate my little girl’s fashion sense & favourite toys all the way up till she’s grown up, and then I can have the collection of illustrations printed in a book for her to have. I’ll post the illustrations as I finish colouring them digitally… here’s the first, Hera’s fav. chew toy ($5.99 from IKEA)

Illustration is done with a black pen (Staedtler Fineliner 306 S) and colour is applied in Photoshop. (How to : set the layer with the original drawing to multiply, and on a layer below that colour in blocks of colour.)
