Thanks for your comment… the butterfly was just from my imagination ;) Something I doodled a couple minutes at a time one day at work while I was waiting for my computer to process some work.

Hi I love this drawing!!! I have a question I have been looking for a butterfly drawing for 4 years now to use as a tattoo, because every girl in my family has a unique butterfly tattoo. So I was wondering if I, with ur permission, could use your drawing for a tattoo?

Hi,can I have permission to use your sketch for my tatoo please? It’s the only one of the millions I’ve looked at that draws my attention, though I would like to add colour. Aroha Pumau na Bernadette no Aotearoa New Zealand

I just wanted to let you know that I used this sketch as inspiration for a piece of jewelry I made. I joined a contest that required “us” to create a piece of jewelry using the colour pallets from here http://www.colourlovers.com/blog/2007/06/01/colorful-beauty-in-nature-butterflies/ and an optional butterfly theme.
Have a look at entry #17 to see what I made http://www.starvingjewelryartists.com/index.php?showtopic=5929
P.S. Feel free to vote on any one of these jewelry items!

I think that this is an awesome butterfly, and I feel so repetitive after reading the previous comments, but do you mind others using the image for the base for a tattoo? I think it is the most awesome drawing ever. I have been searching for a side facing butterfly for a tattoo and this is the best I’ve seen.

Glasswing Butterfly(Greta Oto) is a brush-footed butterfly where its wings are transparent. The tissue between the veins of its wings looks like glass. They are found in the range which extends throughout Central America into Mexico.

I’m the historical embroiderer lady that you are letting me use this lovely drawing as a basis for the embroidery.
His/her latest incarnation is at http://elmsleyrose.blogspot.com/2011/06/julies-butterfly-finished-but-with.html.
I’m not actually finished yet. Although using a real beetle’s wing as the butterfly head was really cool, it’s not really working. I’ve since replaced it with a purple plain embroidered head, same as the body.
I’m also going to do a ‘network’ of fine stitching on top of the purple head/body.
But you can see the finished wings. You can waggle the back wing - see how it sticks up from the embroidery? It’s only attached at the point where it joins the front wing. It has a backing in purple fabric.
The friend it is for loves it!
I’ll let you know when he/she (It’s up to Julie to decide) is all finished, but I thought you’d like to see the progress.
All the best,
